Drum Making Course
Includes All Material: Approx 1.5 hours
Every culture has a drum, come learn the ancient art of making one of the most versatile cultural instruments.
There are 3 different styles of drums each class is at a different rate all drums are 12″ in diameter if a larger drum is desired arrangements must be made prior to class and will incur additional fees. I strongly advise the Earth Pigment Paint course prior to a Drum course. Drums are best painted with earth Pigment Paints while wet, if you want a painted drum please take the Pigment Paint course first. Prices are per student,

Earth Pigment Painting Course
Includes All Material: Approx. 2 hours
The most ancient paint form. Crushed from stones, plants and even charcoal from fire the colors will astound you. This Course teaches the known history of these paints as well as allows the student to try 4 forms of use:
Wet paint on Wet surface
Wet paint on dry surface
Dry Paint on Dry surface
Dry Paint on wet surface
Students will be given authentic scrap fur pieces to paint on, rawhide and bone.

Costrel (Leather Canteen) Class
The original canteen made entirely out of leather and linen string. This is a multi day course. Be aware if you have arthritis in your hands this will be an extremely difficult class for you.
Small Plain Leather Costrel Course: $115
Course includes buckskin strap for your Costrel and all material to make it. Approx. 6×4.5″ it holds approx. 12 oz of water. 2 day course Total time is approx. 4 total hours.
Day 1 ~ Hole punch, glue, sewing, wetting & Shaping
Day 2 ~ Beeswax seal (must wait 24 hours before beeswax) and polish
Large Leather Tooled Costrel Course: $350
Course includes: Pre-cut steerhide and strap. Multiple leather tooling stamps to use throughout the course, paint and dye. This is a 3 day course. Approx. 11×12″ holding approx. 10 cups of water, straps are 52″ if you require they can be provided at additional cost. Approx. 8-9 hours total.
Day 1~ Leather tooling, 1/2 hour drying time then painting/dying. Gluing and sewing and shaping. Allow 4-5 hours depending on how much tooling you plan to do for your pattern.
Day 2 ~ Shaping of the Costrel after waiting 24 hours
Day 3 ~ Beeswax sealing of the Costrel after waiting 24 hours after shaping.
Wampum
Includes All Material Approx. 1 hour
Learn about the amazing historical Impact of the world’s most Sacred Shell. Quahog. Class includes the history of Wampum, and how to weave it using a style of glass beads to make a bracelet. These glass style beads were originally used for trade pre 1700 as a cheaper alternative to authentic shell.
