Description
The cave bear (Ursus spelaeus) is a prehistoric species of bear that lived in Europe and Asia during the Pleistocene and became extinct about 24,000 years ago during the Last Glacial Maximum. Both the word “cave” and the scientific name spelaeus are used because fossils of this species were mostly found in caves.
This tooth was unfortunately broken at the tip from the person I picked it up from. It is still amazingly beautiful. It measures 4” around the curl of the tooth. With powedered turquoise stone inlay.
Genuine pipe stone beads and fossilized Stegodon grey beads, with smoked buckskin backing.
The stone portion of the necklace takes up 12” on each side. Total lanyard length excluding tooth length is 36”
This is a heavy necklace the buckskin strap discourses the weight and allows for a more comfortable wear.
Fossils are fragile, although it can be worn daily I do not recommend it. Do not shower with it on. The tooth is hollow (as all authentic teeth are) if dropped it will break.
