Earth Pigment Painted Hides

The paint I will use on your item is becoming a lost art it is extremely special. Pigment paints are made from crushed stones and plants. I have to mix each color by hand every time I paint, and I usually have to reheat my paint several times throughout the painting process. I use, sticks, brushes and bone to apply this paint depending on the look I am going for. Each piece is unique and one of a kind. No two are ever painted the same. I have been painting with these paints for over a decade. I mix them from charcoal, ochres, plants…. The list goes on.

Today most artists use acrylic paint but when they do it simply doesn’t look right, it is hard and stiff and doesn’t have the same feel as Earth Pigment paints.
