Native American & Scottish Cultural Presentations:

  • Education for ages 6 and up!

    More Than Kilts & Bagpipes: Approx. 2 Hours

    This class is designed to put educate about the differences between Highland and Lowland Scottish People. This St. Patrick’s day instead of talking about Leprechauns have me come in and talk about Lugh Lámfada. Hear a short Bagpipe demonstration on the small pipes (Better for indoor playing) Help Pleat a great kilt and understand how they are worn. Learn a step of Highland Dance! Or try your luck at Guessing which tartan is which! Hear the Gaelic language and sing a song. Learn about the origin of the Book of Kells and how to this day Scottish and Irish people have a bond that can not be separated.

  • Ancient pathways to Art: Approx 2.5 hours

    An enrolled member of the United Cherokee Aniyunwiya Nation this class teaches a variety of hands on art and the history of each piece. Art activity is based on school discretion this class covers everything from arrow making to how to mix your own earth pigment paints. How were hides tanned? What clothing did my people wear?

    Children and adults alike will walk away having new found artistic outlets and an appreciation for our world’s first known artists.

  • A Taste of Gaelic: Approx. 2 hours

    A glimpse of the word of the Scottish Gael and what makes the language so unique, artistic and at times mystical. Discover the ancient and contemporary lens of a minority language that has a huge impact on the world today and will continue into the future. Learn about some of the most important cultural concepts that continue to keep Gaels together despite the changing centuries.
